CHAPTER TWENTY-THREE

SCARLETT

Shopping with two teenage girls was a lesson in patience itself. The more they bickered and argued, the more she ignored them. The two of them were always saying how much they hated that the other copied them, but always ended up buying the same outfit anyway.

Currently, they were arguing over the colors of the one piece swimsuits. Wren wanted black, while Win wanted red.

Scarlett glanced around the store, but saw nothing that really stood out to her. She didn’t often go swimming, but the store did have a few nice tops and shorts that intrigued her. “I’m going over here,” she told the girls loudly, briefly stopping their bickering. “Also, they have black one-pieces with colorful stitching that you should look at. Save yourself some energy.”

With that, she walked over to a sales rack near the front of the store and started browsing. She rarely shopped, but she was in a good mood, so she figured she would splurge a little. The sales were good in this store, and the pieces were nice. She pulled out a pair of denim shorts that had little fringe pieces at the cuff. She put them over her arm to try on.

As she continued to look through the rack, she wondered what Rogue was doing. She hadn’t heard from him since his last message, and while she was still anticipating seeing him tonight, now she just wondered what he was up to. She really needed to ask him what he did at the club, she thought absently. She could ask the girls, who had no doubt done plenty of research, but why bother?

It was still weird to think she had a man at all, let alone a biker. Eventually she might get used to it, but she figured it would still be awhile before it really sunk in. At least from what she could tell so far, the girls were okay with him. After last night she had been worried, but the girls were resilient, and Rogue’s no nonsense attitude definitely helped. She just hoped it stayed that way.

“Alright, we’ve decided,” Wren announced, making her way over. Both girls held a swimsuit. Namely a black one, and one with red trim, the other with blue trim.

Scarlett bit back a grin. “Good,” she said easily. “I have a few things I want to try on, and then we can head out.”

“Can we stop by the food court before we leave?” Win asked. “I have a gift card for the new juice place that should cover all of us.”

“Sure,” Scarlett agreed. “Give me a few minutes.”

She hailed a saleswoman to let her into the dressing room and then quickly tried on one pair of shorts and a gauzy white top. She looked at herself in the mirror critically. The shorts fit, and they did fantastic things to her ass, but the top was a bit too sheer for her liking. She pulled the shirt off and reached for the next one.

Suddenly the door flew open and both girls were shoving inside, panicked looks on their faces.
